After the events of Return to Castle Grayskull, Princess Organa and the council have come to the understanding that the stone creature known as Grayskull was a traitor. As a result of the council’s decision, the horned warrior Aka-Batah Prime (also known as Grayskull) was returned to his stone prison in the lost civilization below. Today we’ll be talking about a new detective visual novel that’s hitting Steam sometime this month: Detective Coming Out: Aina and the Case of the Murdered Crocodile. Following the subgenre of “coming out” detective stories, it’s got two main protagonists, Aina, the young detective, and Kei, the boy who loves Aina. It’s got the standard visual novel tropes of mystery and romance as well as the quality of an Otome game, due to it being played from the perspective of a girl. This makes it unique in that it plays a bit differently from other titles in the genre, and will be an interesting diversion for otome fans. On the other hand, Kei is the only main character of any gender that Aina can’t stand (they’re definitely not friends). And while the plot and the game play were both quite good, it was still suffering from the common issues of this subgenre: It’s difficult to understand the character designs, as they’re far from conventional. The plot is hard to understand, and the story ends up being somewhat unbelievable.
